TAIPEI - Prime Minister Su Tseng-chang led his Cabinet members to resign en masse on Monday as part of a reshuffle prompted by the ruling Democratic Progressive Party's defeat in local government elections in November last year reported Central News Agency (CNA).

The 75-year-old Su, who has headed the executive branch under President Tsai Ing-wen since January 2019, tendered his resignation on Jan 19 after the president's earlier offer to resign was turned down on election night.

A new Cabinet led by former President Chen Chien-jen will be sworn into office on Tuesday.

Over the past few days, Chen has unveiled 39 appointments to his new Cabinet via social media, the majority of whom also served in his predecessor's Cabinet in the same positions.

The full lineup of the new Cabinet is scheduled to be announced at a news conference at 2pm on Monday. - BERNAMA
