Eight officers arrested linked to murder of a man

KOTA KINABALU - Eight police officers were arrested in regards to a murder case here recently.

Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Idris Abdullah said the suspected motive for the murder was jealousy and the case was personal in nature.

"The case leaned towards jealousy and the accused (in court on Monday) was the deceased's wife. It did not involve personal security issues, this was much more personal," he said at a press conference after the Sabah Contingent Police Headquarters (IPK) monthly meeting, here, on Tuesday.

Also present was Sabah Deputy Police Commissioner Datuk Jauteh Dikun.

Idris informed the police arrested eight officer as well as three civilians.

He said the civilians were arrested to aid the investigation to gather evidence before further actions were taken.

"A woman was accused in court under Section 302 of the Penal Code. Investigations are still taking place and we will make the arrests when its concluded, we are gathering the evidence and when it is sufficient along with the statements, we will refer to the Deputy Public Prosecutor ," he said.

Sinar on Wednesday reported that the Sabah police confirmed eight officers and personnel were arrested to aid in the investigations under Section 302 of the Penal Code in Tawau.
