JEMPOL - Jempol MP Datuk Shamshulkahar Mohd Deli will carry on the duties of Jempol Umno Division chief Datuk Mohd Salim Mohd Sharif who was recently suspended for six years.

Shamsulkahar said this was in line with the party's orders who wanted him to carry on with the duties until the party polls conclude.

"The order was released by party headquarters and we will follow all the procedures set and ensure the transition is smooth

"This arrangement will remain until the election finishes soon," he said on Tuesday.

Shamshulkahar also stated his intention to contest for the Jempol Umno Division chief position.

The Serting Assemblyman believes that as an MP, it would be easier for him to carry out his duties in the role as compared to if the post was held by another individual.

He added that he will not be contesting for other roles within the party to focus on parliamentary duties and Umno division duties.

He stated there were no issues in the Umno division after Salim had been suspended for six years.

"Alhamdulillah, the current situation is calm and our 28,000 members are currently preparing for the branch-level meetings and elections soon," he said.
