KUALA LUMPUR - Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim says he accepts the criticism over his daughter Nurul Izzah's appointment as the advisor, stating that "she has to come to help to ensure tender and contracts are in order".

He assured his critics that she was not appointed to "take over projects", infact her job is to make sure tenders and contracts are all in order.

"I have no problems if the criticism are sincere and effective. But those who are criticising are the ones that are giving contracts worth hundreds of millions to their children.

"That is ok to them," he told reporters today.

Anwar also stressed that there would never be corruption or misuse of power under his administration.

"Even though some are not satisfied with my decision, I guarantee that our administration opposes corruption, misuse of power, or enrichment of any officials or leaders.

"However, it is not appropriate for those who give hundreds of millions of ringgit worth of contracts to their children or in-laws while holding the position of prime minister or minister.

"And now want to talk about sincerity," he said.

The criticism after Izzah's appointment as senior economic and finance advisor to the prime minister on Jan 3.

Yesterday, former prime minister Tan Sri Muhyddin Yassin slammed Izzah's appointment and advised her to step down from her position as the senior economic and financial advisor.

"No prime minister in Malaysian history has ever appointed their child as an advisor," he said on his official Facebook page.
