SHAH ALAM - Bersatu deputy president Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu, popularly known as Peja is ready to defend his seat in the party's election come Nov.

The former youth and sports minister said he will continue fighting for the party as long as he is needed by the grassroot leaders.

"If I am needed to continue my service as deputy president or whichever position is within my capacity and ability, then I will surely continue fighting with Bersatu," he told Sinar Harian today.

Ahmad Faizal also said that he is confident that no leaders will propose to exclude the president and deputy president's positions from the party's election later.

"I have not heard any leaders make a proposal to not contest the president and deputy president's positions.

"Bersatu is open to everyone who is worthy, and we welcome the democratic process in the party because, ultimately, what matters is that Bersatu's journey will continue to fight for the people," he elaborated.

"The Bersatu election will be held in Nov, but no date has been set yet," he said.

Commenting on the Perikatan Nasional (PN) Dewan Rakyat members' retreat, Ahmad Faizal informed that a research team was formed to help the party's parliament members be eloquent during debate and question-and-answer sessions in the Dewan Rakyat.

He said the two-day retreat, which started today (Wed) is crucial to prepare themselves as parliament members, in addition to playing their role as the opposition side to contribute to the country's development.

"We believe it is important for all 74 members of parliament, elected in the 15th General Election (GE15), to know the role they must play.

"This is not just politics; what's important is that we want to provide the best service for the people. This is what we are trying to achieve through this settlement," he explained.
