Its president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said this move will not only affect his party, but the whole Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition as well.
"Bersatu needs the funds to finance the state election campaigns for upcoming six state elections.
"Let's hope that this not a political move from the Pakatan Harapan (PH)-Barisan Nasional (BN) government to cripple Bersatu and PN machineries in this upcoming state elections," he said at a press conference after the coalition's member of parliament retreat at a hotel here on Thursday.
Sinar Daily on Wed, had reported that Bersatu's accounts were frozen after the party disclosed its accounts statement to the public.
It was confirmed by Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki.
He said the party's accounts were frozen two weeks prior to facilitate the investigations being made according to the Anti-Money Laundering and Anti-Terrorism Financing Act.
The party's accounts had been frozen in relation to MACC's investigations towards the former government's stimulus funds amounting to RM92.5 billion which was allegedly misappropriated.
"I am confident the cash flow of the accounts (as stated in the account statements) is in order and legally binding.
"Bersatu will write and submit the letter today (Thursday) to the MACC for the freeze order to be lifted," Muhyiddin said after PN's member of parliament retreat at a hotel here on Thursday.
Muhyiddin said the freeze by MACC was largely affecting the party primarily involving salary payments for staffs.
"As a large and important party organisation it has a big impact as we have to pay staff salaries, rent for premises and such.
"The act of freezing the party's accounts are affecting the party's administration as the dates for it to be lifted was unknown," he said.
The Pagoh MP stated his party was not involved in any misappropriation of funds.
"I believe the investigations (by MACC) ont Bersatu's Account Statements will find no money worth billions of ringgit, if they do (find any), it is peculiar as (surely) we would be rich," he said.
