ALANYA - All Terengganu-Polygon Cycling Team (TSG) members are safe and will be returning home tomorrow, after it was announced that the Tour of Antalya they were scheduled to compete in on Feb 9-12 had been cancelled due to the devastating earthquake that struck Turkiye yesterday.

TSG team manager Wan Mohd Nazri Wan Ahmad, when contacted in Alanya, said the team members were shaken but safe, after the magnitude 7.8 earthquake struck near the city of Gaziantep, about 625 kilometres from Alanya.

"It was scary. The tremors were felt even here. It was sto strong that we were woken up from sleep at 4.15am (9.15am Malaysian time). Our mechanic (Mohd Rasdi Rahmat) looked out the window and he saw the buildings next to us shaking and that really scared us," said Wan Mohd Nazri.

The TSG team members in Turkiye currently are riders Shahrul Mat Amin, Wan Abdul Rahman Hamdan, Anatoliy Budyak, Metkel Eyob and Aiman Chahyadi, mechanic Mohd Rasdi, physio Mohd Norhisamuddin Hilmi and Wan Mohd Nazri.

"We are safe. Right now we will begin packing up the bikes and equipment, then get ready to head to the airport," said Wan Mohd Nazri.
