PUTRAJAYA - Malaysia must continue and increase efforts towards anti-corruption initiatives to create a corruption free environment in the public and private sectors.

Human Resources Minister V Sivakumar said the war on corruption must be prioritised by the government. “If we want to succeed as a country free of corruption, actions and law enforcement must sufficient, as people are watching and judging the quality of the government and its agencies' services,” he said.

Sivakumar said cooperation between all parties is key towards the success and effectiveness of the anti-corruption organisational plan in line with the Human Resource Development Corporation (HRD) governance.

He said the 2022 Corruption Perception Index (CPI) rose from 62 to 61 out of 180 countries, but the index released by Transparency International (TI) showed Malaysia’s score dropping by one point to 47 compared to 48.

“The CPI index is often used by international investors for their decision in choosing a country.

“The country’s public services performance is rated highly if it places higher on the rating list,” he said in his speech at the launch of the HRD Corp Anti-Corruption Initiative, here, on Tuesday.

Sivakumar said the Pembangunan Sumber Manusia Berhad (PSMB) Organisational Anti-Corruption Plan (OACP) symbolises HRD Corp’s efforts in fighting corruption.

“The 2021-2025 PSMB OACP is developed taking into account the current situations and the future of organisations with the vision of creating HRD Corp members that were corruption free and with integrity,” he said.

He said the framework outlined four strategic objectives focusing on governance, administration, procurement and enforcement.
