Selangor Bersatu did not offer KJ to be candidate or MB - Zulkafperi
SHAH ALAM - After Pas yesterday, Selangor Bersatu today, had also confirmed that there no invitation from its side, asking former Umno youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin or offered him the menteri besar position if he wins.
Selangor Bersatu Deputy Chairman Datuk Zulkafperi Hanapi said there were no discussions between Selangor Bersatu’s leadership and Khairy regarding the offer.
"I don’t know if the party's top leadership has offered (to Khairy), but at Selangor (Bersatu) level, there is no offer," he said when contacted by Sinar Harian on Wed.
He said Bersatu will accept with open arms any former Umno or Pakatan Harapan (PH) leaders or members to join the party.
Zulkafperi said the participation of members from both parties are hoped to further strengthen Bersatu in their struggles of unifying the Malays.
He explained that the people of Selangor are wise and mature enough to choose the party of their choice.
He also expressed confidence that voters would extend their support for the PN to form a government in the state.
"We are confident if Malays come together and give their support for PN, the Selangor government led by PH would be toppled," he said.
Sinar Harian on Tuesday reported Selangor Pas which confirmed that they did not make any offer to Khairy to be a candidate as well as menteri besar position if he wins.
Selangor Pas Secretary Roslan Shahir Mohd Shahir said there were no discussions or offers made to Khairy to join Pas currently.
Khairy on Monday had stated his interests to join the Selangor state election and that he had received several offers including the position of menteri besar if he won.
However, he did not disclose which party made that offer.
