PUTRAJAYA - The country can no longer survive with a high budget deficit, said the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

He said a few strategies have been taken in Budget 2023 which will be tabled in parliament soon.

"The preliminary numbers for Budget 2024 were presented to the cabinet in today's meeting," he said in a press conference after chairing the cabinet meeting here today.

He said the reduced allocations in this year's budget will not affect the development of the country.

"I had received several counter-proposals submitted by members of the cabinet," he said.

The Dewan Rakyat session is scheduled to start next Feb 13 for 29 days and Budget 2023 will be presented again on 24 Feb.
