KOTA BHARU - Kelantan state election is expected to be held in July or August based on several factors says Kelantan Menteri Besar Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah.

Among the factors taken into consideration were the fact that Muslims will be fasting and students will be undergoing the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination, which takes place from February to March.

Preliminary discussions among the three Pas led states of Kelantan, Terengganu, and Kedah had suggested that the state polls be held in March.

"However, there are other important things happening, such as Ramadan and the SPM exams. For the elections, schools need to be utilised.

"Due to these factors, we will postpone the election to a date that will be announced later," he said after attending the Kelantan Exco Meeting in Kota Darulnaim, here, on Wednesday.

Pas state deputy commissioner said the decision was made following the dissolution of the Kelantan State Assembly, which is expected on June 26.

On whether the elections will be held simultaneously with Pakatan Harapan (PH) states, Amar said there have been no discussions with the states involved.

"Currently, we have suggested it to the Selangor Menteri Besar, Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, who asked for the state assembly to be dissolved in June.

"Kelantan Pas have made early preparations to retain their victory in the 15th General Election (GE15)," he said.
