Political direction may have cause split between Mahathir, Mukhriz, claims Putra

SHAH ALAM - Parti Bumiputera Perkasa Malaysia (Putra) claims political ambition to gain power in the government may be the reason for Pejuang president Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahthir to leave Gerakan Tanah Air (GTA).
Its president Datuk Dr Ibrahim Ali said Mukhriz and a majority of Pejuang’s leadership had left GTA based on their loss in GE15 proving they were no longer steadfast with their intention to unify the Malays in the country.
“They thought they could form a government," he told Sinar.
On Friday, former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, 97, quit Pejuang, a Malay party he founded two years ago, together with 12 other members.
The latest decision indicated a split in political direction with his son who currently heads the party.
