M'sia to show unwavering support for Palestine through civil societies, public demonstrations, says Fuziah

Deputy Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Senator Fuziah Salleh said Putrajaya supports official recognition of the state of Palestine and its continued efforts to advocate for the rights of the Palestinian people at the international level.
“The people of Malaysia have also shown their unwavering support for Palestine through various civil society initiatives, including charity events and public demonstrations in solidarity with the Palestinian people,” she said during the International Conference Kuala Lumpur 2023 (ICPKL) Closing Ceremony, today.
Fuziah further said more work is needed to support Palestinian families and communities.
“The effects of mass detention and imprisonment reach far beyond the walls of the prison, impacting the entire Palestinian society.
“It is our responsibility to support the families of these prisoners and work to alleviate the harm caused by their incarceration," she said.
Fuziah was speaking at the three-day International Conference on Palestine Kuala Lumpur 2023 (ICPKL) which ends today.
She also urged everyone to work hard to ensure that the voices of Palestinian prisoners are heard.
“It is important that their stories are told and that their struggles are recognised.”
Fuziah added that the international society need to pressure Israel to comply with international law.
“The international community needs to force Israel during conventions at Geneva to outline the minimum standards of prisoners of war and civilians in times of armed conflict.
“Israel must be held accountable for its actions and the international community must use all available means to bring an end to the ongoing mistreatment of Palestinian prisoners.”
Fuziah added that Malaysia must continue its advocacy and support, to bring an end to the suffering and injustices of Palestinian faces.
