Terengganu division manager arrested for misuse of power

KUALA TERENGGANU - A division manager at a subsidiary company was arrested by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) for suspected abuse of power.

The abuse of power involves supplying 100 SIM cards worth more than RM4,000 to his son, who is an agent of a telecommunications. The offence took place in 2022.

Sources said the male suspect, in his 40s, was detained after presenting himself at the MACC office in Kemaman at 2pm today to give his statement to the authorities.

"The fee for the supply of the SIM cards for state government subsidiary employees was deposited into the suspect's own bank account," the source said.

Meanwhile, Terengganu MACC Director Hazrul Shazreen Abd Yazid when contacted, confirmed the arrest.

He said the case was investigated under Section 23 (1) of the MACC Act 2009.
