Sinar Karangkraf raises more than RM76,000 in five days

SHAH ALAM - Sinar Karangkraf has successfully raised funds amounting to RM76,420.24 since the launch of its x SyriaCare Fund for Turkey and Syria on Feb 8.

Its Head of Marketing and Branding, Nik Justin Nik Mohd Ariffin, expressed his gratitude to the people who donated generously to the fund, which collected RM80,000 in just five days.

He also hoped that more people and organisations would come forward to donate to help earthquake victims in Turkey and Syria.

"As we already know, there are more than 35,000 victims who died in Turkey and Syria due to the disaster.

"So I think we need to step it up so that more people come forward to donate, especially corporate bodies, to help and reduce the burden on the victims there.

"This relief fund collection will run until Feb 28 with a target of RM250,000," he told Sinar Harian on Monday.

According to Nik Justin, the fund will be used for four different causes, which are; to provide temporary accommodation for residents who have lost their homes, food, medicine and basic necessities including clothing.

"Our effort has started on the first day of the disaster by launching the relief fund in collaboration with Syria Care. Donations which are collected were being channelled from time to time to the countries hit by disaster.

"All the officers and volunteers who are already there will buy the equipment and aid mentioned earlier. The aid will continue, and every donation given will be used to provide help to the earthquake victims," he explained.

The Sinar Karangkraf x SyriaCare Fund for Turkey and Syria involves Sinar Harian's strategic collaboration with Syria Care and the International Islamic University of Malaysia (UIAM).
