SHAH ALAM - Former prime minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob expressed his appreciation to Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, who commended the former's service in handling the Covid-19 pandemic during his tenure.

"I was moved by His Majesty's speech at the official opening of the First Meeting of the Second Session of the 15th Parliament today, when he expressed his appreciation for the previous government's hard work in handling the pandemic.

"Our country had also emerged as the best in Southeast Asia at the time," he said in a Facebook post on Monday.

Ismail Sabri said, however, that it was not a single man's job but was due to the concerted effort and cooperation by various parties.

"To be able to succeed does not come as easily as imagined," he said.

"It is due to the hard work, consensus, and confidence of every department and institution, as well as the perseverance of every member of 'Keluarga Malaysia' in the previous years since the revival from the Covid-19 pandemic," he added.

Additionally, Ismail Sabri, in his post, also extended his prayers for the well-being of His Majesty, who is the main pillar of the country.

"The country under His Majesty's wisdom will continue to climb bravely on the ladder of victory if it is led by a hand that loves success, and preserves the constitution with full diligence and integrity," he said.

The opening ceremony of the Dewan Rakyat session was officiated by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah on Monday.

His Majesty also reminded members of parliament to focus their efforts on ensuring the stability that everyone dreams of can be fully achieved.
