We will pursue for the betterment of e-hailing, says Loke
KUALA LUMPUR - Transport Ministry is coming to the rescue of the e-hailing industry in a bid to ensure a win-win situation for all stakeholders.
Its minister Anthony Loke said the ministry will faciliate and look at solutions for the betterment of both drivers and customers.
“The e-hailing fare cannot be controlled since it works based on dynamic pricing or depends on the market price.
“Some parties were dissatisfied because of the high fare during the peak hours, so we are currently observing it.
“Because the fare is not about distance but time, while another party (the drivers) are complaining because their incomes will be reduced because of that," he told the media at Arts on The Move at Pasar Seni station today.
Loke, who is also the Seremban MP, said they would look deeper into the matter but there were also other things that had yet to be taken into consideration in regards to the fare.
On Feb 1, e-hailing drivers voiced out their dismay following an announcemnt of the new fee structures would likely impact their income.
The upveal was caused by the e-hailing service provider's decision to change the incentive structure with an aim to help drivers specifically who were stuck in traffic during peak hours.
