'I won in selfies, but I lost in votes' - KJ
KUALA LUMPUR - Former health minister Khairy Jamaluddin says he won in selfies but lost in votes during the last general elections.
On his first day as a Hot FM announcer at 6am today at Bekpes Hot Slot with Johan and AG today, Khairy started the show by sharing his personal information including education, career background and his experiences in losing in the 15th General Election (GE15).
In a report by BH, it was reported that Khairy was in a relaxed, cheerful vibe and spoke about his recent defeat.
"I thought I would win because during the campaign many had asked for a selfie with me but it turns out I lost.
"Winning in selfies but losing in votes," he said at Bekpes Hot segment on Hot FM, today.
Khairy also said he had no plans after losing in elections.
Hearing this, Johan and AG suggested that "winning in slefies but losing on votes' was a suitable slogan during promotions.
Khairy said: "I thought even if I lost in the election, I will get my pension for the ministerial duties I previously held.
"Turns out I have to wait till I am 50 to receive my pensions, since I'm 47 I have to wait for three more years.
"That is the reason why I accepted the offer to become a Hot FM DJ," he added.
Khairy was stunned for a brief moment when AG said listeners say Khairy's voice 'melted' their hearts.
"I don't know," he answered while laughing.
It was previously reported that Khairy's appearance as a Hot FM announcer was to give balance in the Bekpes Hot Slot by discussing serious topics and delivering interesting information towards listeners.
KJ's story becoming a Hot FM DJ started when Hot FM made the offer towards Khairy through an open letter on Instagram @hotfm976 involving a position as a radio announcer on duty every Monday to Friday from 6am to 10am.
Media Prima Audio (MPA) confirmed Khairy would begin as an announcer on the Hot FM radio station as well as handling the Bekpes Hot segment starting on Wednesday.
Khairy then confirmed he will join Hot Fm through a phone interview on the Bekpes Hot segment conducted by Johan, AG and Datuk AC Mizal.
