SHAH ALAM - Putrajaya Pas has compared Terengganu Pas weapon march with spears, swords and shields to Nijigen Cosplay Expo.

In a Facebook posts, it showed listicles comparing both events that had their participants dressing up according to their respective themes, the political party laid out a number of contradicting reactions expressed the public.

To begin with, it wrote that the Terengganu Islamic Youth Assembly (Himpit) 2023 march was denounced by critics as outdated while the anime expo was applauded as a modern programme.

Secondly, it pointed how Pas outdoor march that saw its participants wearing an ancient Muslim soldier's attire and carrying weapons such as sword, spear and shield as threatening whereas the cosplay event was not.

Lastly, the party also noted the some of the social media users and civilians' call for police probe on the 'Islamic-spirited' activity as opposed to the anime enthusiast expo which did not receive such calls.

A user Arah Awang commented that the march would not have been an issue if Pas was a part of PH. He worte, "PH is about to collapse... just looking for issues to 'downgrade' the opponent, but they are wrong."

Zulkarnaen Sokarnor on the other hand called out Pas for marching with weapons in open space as if they were literally headed for a war, unlike the cosplay event which is referred to no more than just a "leisure/hobby" activity, which was also held in a closed venue.

He further said that Pas should instead showcase a good example of harmony and peace.

Zulkarnaen said: "(They are) seriously tainting the religion's image."

It was reported that the march took place on Friday in Setiu, Terengganu, at the beginning of the two-day Pas Youth gathering known as Himpunan Pemuda Islam Terengganu (Himpit).
