'No individual has come forward to contest for vice president yet' says Shahrir

SHAH ALAM - No individual has yet to contest for the Umno vice-president post as of now despite a week away from party elections.

Umno Election Committee chairman Tan Sri Shahrir Samad said no Umno figure or leaders have registered for the seat while they have received 24 nominations for the Supreme Council position.

He said this at Umno Online portal.

At present, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, Datuk Seri Mahadzir Khalid and Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin hold the number three post in the party.

The registration process for Umno Election is from Feb 12 to 26 at the Dato' Onn Tower Auditorium for the Umno supreme council, Wanita, Youth and Puteri Exco seat.

He said so far one candidate registered for the Umno Wanita deputy chief, two candidates for Umno Youth deputy chief and three candidates for Puteri while 22 exco candidates (Wanita), 25 (Youth) and 15 (Puteri) registered for the respective posts.

Shahrir expected more candidates to register including for the post of Umno vice-president in the last week.
