BISA Awards helps in shaping entrepreneurial culture

SHAH ALAM - The Bisnes Sinar Harian Awards (BISA) is held in line with the government's effort in shaping entrepreneurial mindset and culture.

Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub said the government has mobilised the Mendaya Upaya (to empower) initiative with hope to produce more successful entrepreneurs.

He said other than contributing to the economy, it could be an open door to opportunities for the people to earn a living.

"The small and medium entreprises (SMEs) are important to national development as it provided more than eight million job opportunities.

"Hopefully the stories of the award's winners broadcasted through BISA will become an inspiration and guide so that more people will venture into the business field.

"I congratulate Sinar Harian for the success of BISA. Entering its 17th year, I hope Sinar Harian can continue with its transparent and truthful principles," he said.

Salahuddin also hoped that Sinar Harian would continue to highlight successful entrepreneurs to empower entrepreneurial culture among Malaysians.

"Tonight, BISA is to show appreciation and repay all the sweat and tears, sacrifice and hard work throughout the entrepreneurs' journey to push forward and grow their businesses.

BISA was held at the DoubleTree by Hilton, i-City, here, last night.

The awards which was held for the first time, has become the starting point for Sinar Harian to play its role in empowering local entrepreneurs.

It aims to recognise SMEs in the country.
