Action will be taken against those who disrupt nation’s harmony

KUALA LUMPUR - Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim assures that the government will take action against “purveyors” who abuse freedom of speech to cause disharmony and disrupt unity in the country.

He said Malaysia will not allow hateful sentiments to fester to the point of it becoming a violent act.

"I would like to remind that there will no longer be any parties who will fish in troubled waters by trying to ignite hatred between races.

"I guarantee that not only the perpetrators will be arrested, but also the purveyors who abuse freedom of speech.

"The harmony and unity of the nation must be upheld regardless of religion or race.

"Social justice must be upheld to close the gap in the development of the states and the income of the people," said the Finance Minister when re-tabling Budget 2023 in the Dewan Rakyat, yesterday.

He added that unity was important and must be upheld especially in the government's efforts to unravel the main issues plaguing the country.

"The problems of individuals who have to struggle daily with the cost of living issue are being fully addressed.
