SHAH ALAM - Government should reveal a stronger objective, policy and timeline according to the Malaysia Madani concept, says political commentator Tang Ah Chai.

Upon being asked regarding the long term plans of the newly-minted government, Tang claimed they should possess good government in place and proposed policies.

Not to mention, the government administered by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim ought to have measures that allowed both government and opposition to work smoothly.

“The same for political reform. Concrete should be unveiled to set priorities, “ he said.

Moreover, he added instead of showing off, the ministers should focus on solving the people’s problems and become more people friendly as well.

“ On job appointments, the government should be promoting meritocracy and stay away from nepotism and cronyism.

“An objective evaluation should be applied instead of a forceful implementation. Otherwise, the practice of the former government will be inherited and continued which is in contradiction with the Malaysia Madani concept, he said.

Speaking about the 100 days as the government of Malaysia, Tang said the unity government has passed the test - though there is still room for improvement.

Said Tang, he gave 65 over 100 for their performance.

“The new government has passed the test basically but still needs to work hard for improvements,” said Tang.

“With the presence of the Anti-Hopping Law, the new government is also blessed by a confidence motion in the Dewan Rakyat.

“The political landscape is said to be stable and normal now, “ he said.

Tang said with the upcoming state elections, the unity government will be facing a new challenge as they are also currently fixing the political setback in Sabah.
