Cops seize 450kg meth worth RM14.9 mil, two local men detained

SHAH ALAM - Police busted a drug trafficking syndicate today which saw the arrest of two local men, seizing more than 450kg of methamphetamine, estimated to be worth RM14.9 million.

Selangor Police Chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said the suspects aged between 22 to 33 were arrested in Rawang.

Hussein said the operation held on Tuesday in Rawang was carried out by the Bukit Aman Narcotics Crime Investigation Department (JSJN).

He said the police seized 10 white packages containing 503 gold coloured plastic packages written freeze-dried durian".

"The drugs containing methamphetamine weighing 450kg was found in a Nissan Navara car in the area.

"The value of the seized drugs is RM14.9 million and to be marketed around Klang Valley area," he said in a press conference at Selangor Police Headquaters.

Hussein further added that the suspects had previous records for drug-related offences.

"The screening test found that both suspects were negative for drugs.

"The suspects were remanded for seven days for further investigations," he said.

Commenting further, Hussein said that the seized methamphetamine is believed to be able to cater 2.1 million addicts.

The case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
