KOTA BHARU - Arau Member of Parliament Datuk Seri Dr Shahidan Kassim is comfortable choosing 'wala' (love and loyalty) over party and is not interested in running for any position in Pas.

He hoped that no one would question his position in the party.

"I am wala' to Pas now. Do not ask about it again. I have stated in the Parliament that I am a genuine Pas and Perikatan Nasional (PN) member.

"Previously in Umno, I wanted to be the president, but the Umno president now needs to be changed," he said in a press conference today.

Earlier, Shahidan officiated the Kota Bharu Pas 56th Annual General Assembly here.

Also present was Kota Bharu Pas president, Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan.

He said he chose Pas because he wanted to continue his jihad (fight) and seek Allah's pleasure.

In another development, Shahidan said it is normal to attempt to topple the government.

"We (PN) are confident that we can become a good government, unlike the current one.

"I wish to be part of the government, and I can do better," he said.

He added that it was not wrong to issue a statement saying that PN had the intention and ambition to change the government.

He said their ambition will become a reality in the future, or whenever.
