KUALA LUMPUR - There is no political party in this country that can operate without financial support from foreign sources.

Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said that the statement was made based on his 50 years of experience in politics.

"They (the government) say that we are the only ones who did that. I have been in politics for a long time, more than 50 years. If we can look for funding ourselves, then that's good.

"But when the party looks for funding, I'm confident that it will receive support from corporate bodies, certain individuals, and most likely donations from foreigners.

"If you are brave enough, then show it, because right now the charges (made against Muhyiddin) seem like we are the only ones who did it. If there is a company that makes billions of ringgit, then that's fine, but I can guarantee that there is none.

"Umno used to own a company, but it's nowhere to be seen now. That is why if you want to know the real situation, then let MACC investigate," he said in a press conference after Bersatu 5th Annual General Assembly 2022, held at Menara PGRM, here, today.

Earlier, Muhyiddin, in his policy speech, challenged the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to prosecute the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and his Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahamd Zahid Hamidi.

He said not only Bersatu but also the two leaders, Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) and Umno's financial sources also need to be investigated.
