SHAH ALAM - In congratulating actress Tan Sri Michelle Yeoh on her Oscars victory, former finance minister Lim Guan Eng jokingly questioned whether tomorrow would be declared a public holiday for Malaysia.

This comes after Yeoh bagged an Oscar for Best Lead Actress for her role in 'Everything Everywhere All At Once' at the 95th Academy awards, creating history as the first Asian to do so.

Lim also congratulated Yeoh for her success saying that all Malaysians are proud of her.

"Congratulations to Tan Sri Michelle Yeoh! First Malaysian to win Oscar! Making all Malaysian proud. We are so proud of you!!!" Lim wrote on Twitter.

"So 'Gancheong' and happy for you," he added in the same tweet.

The film, directed by Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, arrived at Hollywood's biggest gala at the top of the nominations pile with 11 chances at Oscars glory, including for best picture.
