Razarudin's service extended for two years

PUTRAJAYA - The services of Tan Sri Razarudin Husain as Deputy Inspector General of Police has been extended on a contract basis for two years effective this Thursday to March 15, 2025.

Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said the appointment of Razarudin was with the permission of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong as advised by the prime minister on the Police Force Commission (SPP) in accordance with the Federal Constitution Article 140 Clauses 4 and 5.

“The government congratulates him on this appointment,” he said through a statement on Thursday.

The media previously reported thay Razarudin’s retirement ceremony on Tuesday was cancelled suspected to be due to his contract extension.

Razarudin, 60, was appointed as the deputy inspector general of police in December 2021.

Born in Dengkil, Selangor he started his duties in 1984 at the Kedah Contingent Criminal Investigation Department (JSJ) as an investigation officer and continued his service until 1996 with a rank of police Assistant Superintendent (ASP) in the Muar district, Johor.

He held several positions including Penang JSJ chief, Perak Serious Crime Investigation Department (D9) director, Perak police chief, Bukit Aman Narcotics Crime Investigation Department before being appointed to the number two position.
