SHAH ALAM - The Umno election this Saturday will be a turning point for the grassroots in the party to regain the trust of the people.

Vice president candidate Datuk Seri Hasni Mohammad said this election represents a chance to show the public that Umno is willing to transform or is in the process of transforming.

“If the party doesn’t display an image of us in the process of change, we are done for.

“We don’t even have to wait for the 16th general election (GE16) as it would not be salvageable

“My statement may not be accepted by certain parties but that is what I feel,” he said.

Hasni said this during a Sinar Live programme titled ‘Umno: The Election Promising Recovery’ hosted by Hazwan Mokhtar through Sinar Harian’s digital platforms.

Commenting on the 2023-2026 Umno Youth, Wanita and Puteri wings elections, Hasni said there were still some from the public showing their scepticism and lack of confidence towards Umno changing.

“When we look at it from the leadership line up that has been chosen, some have expressed their concerns that there were interference or orders from certain parties.
