BUKIT MERTAJAM - Leaders who have been summoned by the authorities to facilitate in an investigation are advised to not point fingers to others as it is a normal procedure.

Penang Umno chairman Datuk Musa Sheikh Fadzir said several Umno leaders have been held by the authorities before for investigation and the party has never blamed anyone for it.

"They use to say that Umno is a court cluster but now we see our friends being in the same cluster. Umno has also been called for investigation, Umno's account has been frozen before.

"All the works were interrupted when the account was frozen, but it's normal as investigations must be carried out. We have to follow the law.

"At that time, we did not blame anyone and left it to the law. We accept it, we follow instructions and cooperated with the authorities until they found that there was nothing wrong with Umno's account, there was no elements of wrongdoings in the account.

"Today, we faced the same thing. We previously say that it (investigation) was the authorities' work and not theirs. So we let the authorities investigate. If it happened to you, don't jump," he said in a press conference after the Bukit Mertajam Umno division delegates meeting, today

Previously, Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin was charged with six counts of abuse of power involving bribes totaling RM232.5 million and money laundering involving RM195 million between 2020 and last year.

He was slapped with another money laundering charge the following week involving RM5 million.

Meanwhile, Musa who is also the Buki Mertajam Umno chief said the party was still relevant among the people as many had volunteered to contest and offered their services to the party in the election this time.

"Some alleged that Umno is no longer relevant. This is not true.

“If the party is irrelevant, weak and has no value, no one would have offered to contest in the election.

"But today, many wanted to contest and it means that Umno is still strong. People still love Umno," he said.
