PUTATAN - Parti Warisan (Warisan) president Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal has denied claims that Warisan Putatan division was helpless following the action of a Petagas State Assembly (ADUN) member leaving the party last month.

Mohd Shafie said the restructuring of the Putatan level leadership has been done to ensure that the party management can continue to face the next state election (PRN).

"Who said it was paralysed? It's still enough. The only problem is I listen too much to the division, division chiefs, and committee members' voice which consist of their side and finally all of them left.

"Today we are restructuring the leadership at the Putatan level after several situations that have occurred where our assemblyman has left.

"So we have taken quick steps to ensure that we are able to stabilise and strengthen our base to face the state elections which will be held at any time either this year or next year and this is also a preparation in organising by appointing a protem committee first " he said in a press conference after attending the Putatan Grassroots Program on Sunday night.

Shafie also announced former Petagas State Assembly member Datuk Uda Sulai as the Warisan Putatan division protem division chairman before the appointment of the new leadership

Mohd Shafie also advised the division leadership to strengthen the party by learning from what happened in the Putatan division.

"I don't want this party to have groups, there must be unity. It's not to strengthen the division chiefs but to strengthen the party, if we have an approach to strengthen the party instead of strengthening individuals then the party will be strong.

"I don't want to appeal to the division leaders, I want to make sure that Warisan is strong. I was never strengthened as a president but I strengthened Warisan.

"Imagine if the division chief is strengthened, when a mob leaves the party like what happened in Putatan, the branch has to be suspended when the division committee leaves.

"So, my advice as the president, there must be inclusiveness in leading in all departments," he stressed.

Before that, Sinar Harian reported that Petagas assemblyman Datuk Awang Ahmad Sah Awang Sahari announced that he was leaving Warisan and joining Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah

He also claimed that the Warisan Putatan division was paralysed due to the majority of Warisan members in that division also leaving the party.
