KUALA LUMPUR - A total of 31,600 pilgrims for this year's Hajj will receive their offer letters starting on Wednesday.

Tabung Haji (TH) Board Hajj executive director Syed Saleh Syed Abdul Rahman said potential pilgrims must pass their health screening before answering the offer letter within seven days through the THiJARI application.

He said for certain cases those receiving the letter could head to the nearest TH branch.

"TH will prioritise those would be hajj pilgrims in 2020 aged 65 and above, followed by those in 2021 and then those from 2022 and 2023.

"This was based on first come, first served basis on the Hajj registration system.

"Hajj appeals through the THiJARI online platform will be opened from March 27, 2023, with priority given to mahram appeals," he said in a press conference, here on Monday.

He added 50 per cent of potential pilgrims were in the B40 category while 48 per cent were from the M40 group and two percent (T20).

"Through the offer letters we will introduce the option to pay at the set rates by group category or potential pilgrims could opt to pay according to their capabilities.

"This was due to several B40 pilgrims overpaying or making full payments last year.

"This action will aid TH and decrease the Hajj Financial Assistance (Hafis) that we bear," he said.
