KUALA LUMPUR - The Dewan Rakyat session today turned tense for a moment when Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim (PN-Arau) had interrupted the question and answer session and winding-up of Supply Bill 2023 at the committee level for the allocation of Communications and Digital Ministry by the Deputy Communications and Digital Minister Teo Nie Ching.

Shahidan during his previous debate session had mentioned his discontent about TikTok ending his live broadcast in the Dewan Rakyat and he questioned whether the Communications and Digital Ministry was involved in it.

Nie Ching replied that her ministry was not involved since TikTok was not under their supervision.

"Your honor needs to understand that TikTok is not a company established in Malaysia or under the Ministry, so they will not simply listen to us," she said.

She also challenged Shahidan to repeat the allegations outside the Dewan Rakyat so that legal action can be taken.

Nie Ching's (PH-Kulai) 'challenge' had provoked Shahidan, who then raised his voice to interrupt.

"I'm just asking for an explanation. If the Ministry is not involved then just answer no. You are even challenging me. I am not crazy. There is still a lot of work to do for the people," said Shahidan.

Shahidan's action received backlash from Nie Ching and also Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad (PH-Kuala Selangor).

"Have patience, this is the month of Ramadan," they said.
