JOHOR BAHRU - The Higher Education Ministry does not prevent any political party including politicians from organising programmes at public universities.

Its Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin, however, said the matter is subject to university's approval.

"The Ministry does not prevent any party from entering into a university.

"But as you know, you have to inform the university management before visiting," said Khaled, the Johor Umno chairman who had attended his first Johor Umno meeting for the 2023-2026 term at Johor Umno Building, here, today.

This comes after Muda president Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman was denied entry to attend the #JelajahMansuhAUKU dialogue session at Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM).

Commenting further, Khaled asked Syed Saddiq and UiTM management to meet and discuss over the issue.

"There may have been a misunderstanding in terms of communication. On behalf of the ministry, I hope both parties can meet and rearrange the programme so it can be held again," he said.

Previously, the dialogue session between Syed Saddiq and UiTM Shah Alam students scheduled to take place on Thursday night was cancelled after he was denied entry.

The Muar MP described UiTM's reason for not approving the dialogue session to maintain 'harmony' as absurd.

On Friday, UiTM as quoted said the students who organised the #JelajahMansuhAUKU dialogue session did not go through proper channels to apply for the programme organisation at Shah Alam Campus.

UTM Vice-Chancellor Prof Datuk DR Roziah Janor had said activities organised by outside parties should get approval from the university.
