KOTA BHARU - The Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) has identified four locations in the state at risk of forest fire during the drought season.

Its director Zainal Madasin said the hotspots were Bachok, Pasir Mas, Gua Musang and Kota Bharu.

"We are also limiting all officers' and members' leave days to deal with this drought season right now," he said when contacted today.

He said Kelantan JBPM has held a meeting to coordinate emergency action plans in case of forest fires in the state.

He said all firefighting equipment and supplies had been inspected to ensure everything was in good condition.

Zainal added that the department will request help from the nearby states if the situation requires it.

"We have 27 machines and 24 transport pumps throughout the state. Firefighters will use fire trucks for areas that have no access to these machines," he said.
