Husband suspected of abusing wife to death with hammer

DUNGUN - A husband is suspected of murdering his wife with a hammer in an incident at their home in Kampung Besol, Bukit Besi, here, today.

Dungun district police officer Superintendent Baharudin Abdullah said the 8am incident saw victim Rubiah Sabtu, 41, dead at the scene following severe injuries on her face.

He said the couple were married last year but reportedly face misunderstandings causing the man in his 30s to lose control and act violently.

"The suspect had told his family members nearby about his action which saw them lodging a police report.

"The victim's husband was arrested," he said.

Baharudin said the victim's body was sent to the Dungun Hospital Forensic Unit for further probe and the case is investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
