SUNGAI PETANI - Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has announced that there will be no Hari Raya Aidilfitri open house held at Seri Perdana, Putrajaya this year.

He said he instead wanted to attend open houses organised in the states.

"The Prime Minister will not hold an Aidilfitri event in Seri Perdana but we will visit open houses from state to state, whether it was organised by the federal or state government," he said.

He said this during his speech at the Home Ministry Madani Iftar and Pure Values Implementation Ceremony held at Sekolah Latihan Asas Kepolisan, here, today.

He said he will first attend an open house in Alor Setar, Kedah on April 29.

"I am interested in Alor Setar as I was told the food there is much more delicious than other places," he explained.

In the meantime, Anwar said he had submitted the names of proposed candidates to fill the vacant auditor-general post two weeks ago.

He said there were several procedures to go through before the name can be presented to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

"All matters have been done, I had sent the proposed name two weeks ago," he said.

Meanwhile, in the same iftar ceremony, Anwar had also traded an al-Quran that did not have the ministry's certification with a new al-Quran certified by the ministry besides giving donations to selected recipients.
