#Projek Baju Raya collects 500kg worth of clothes

SHAH ALAM - #Projek Baju Raya which was initiated by Kumpulan Karangkraf to brighten up Syawal for the underprivileged, have managed to collect 500 kilograms (kg) of clothes.

Sinar Karangkraf Head of Marketing and Branding Nik Justin Nik Mohd Ariffin said more than 20,000 recipients will benefit from this donations by the public.

He said almost 90 percent of the clothes received were in good conditions and brand new.

"We have just wrapped up the #Projek Baju Raya that was ongoing thoroughout the Iftar ala Madinah programme last April 15. Due to the unexpected overwhelming response, there are even those who still wish to donate.

"Some of the donated clothes are brand new. I thank everyone donated out of compassion. The project has received extraordinary response.

"These clothes are definitely something that will bring joy to the recipients as they can wear new clothes for Hari Raya Aidilfitri," he told Sinar on Tuesday.

He said they will first distribute the clothes to Medan Tuanku Homeless Centre, Kuala Lumpur today at 9pm.

He added the distribution, in collaboration with Sinar Karangkraf and Muslim Women's Action Society (Pertiwi) will benefit nearly 150 homeless people, asnaf groups and disabled people (OKU).

"There will be several more sessions until Raya night. It doesn't stop there too as after Raya holidays we will continue to give donations to as many communities in need until it runs out," he said.

Additionally, Nik Justin said because the response was very encouraging, the campaign will be made into an annual programme.
