KUALAL LUMPUR : Veteran singer, Rohana Jalil 68, is in critical condition at the intensive care unit of Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia here.
The news of her condition was shared by her close friend and fellow veteran singer, Datin Salwa Abdul Rahman on Instagram and Facebook yesterday.
Salwa, 58, said she was shocked and saddened to hear of her ailing friend's undisclosed illness and urged Malaysians to pray for her speedy recovery.
In her post, Salwa said that the medical team was still examining and monitoring Rohana's illness as she has never faced any serious health problems before this
"Jaafar Onn showed a picture of himself with Rohana when he performed at Plaza Shah Alam, last Sunday, but Jaafar told me that Rohana said she felt faint suddenly while singing.
"Rohana then requested to rest and sit and continued to be in a weak state, I am quite shocked as she has always been someone who is active and rarely sick," Salwa said.
According to various media reports, when Rohana was rushed to the hospital, the children of the 1980 Bintang RTM champion refused to inform anyone and kept it a secret. However, Salwa informed that when the singer's health condition became critical, her children began to share about her health progress and asked people to pray for their mother's recovery.
Salwa explained that for now, visitors are not allowed to visit because Rohana is still in the ICU and breathing with the help of oxygen.
"I heard that Rohana has already shown some response , but she is still in a weak state and is being monitored ," she said.
