Eid: Modesty, a symbol of integrity

Modesty reflects high virtue values and mirrors the nation’s integrity.

Moderation in Eid al-Fitr celebrations by the government symbolises the country putting the social welfare of its people as a priority.

This is akin to a family leader who values modesty and guides his family to be balanced by exercising caution in spending and every action.

That is the critical integrity feature that prevents overspending, mismanagement and fund leaks.

The Ramadhan fasting month has thought us about self-control

It must be manifested by the governance of the people with the values of honesty, thriftiness and carefulness and by considering the interests of other parties in any decision.

A well-managed spending gives the opportunity for everyone to share their feelings and be concerned with one another.

Modesty fosters the social responsibility and high civic values in society.

The simplicity in Eid celebrations will also teach us to be respectful and sensitive towards cultural differences in Malaysia.

Applying the principle of modesty starting from Eid celebrations, would ensure the use of resources are managed, spent wisely and prudently enough to meet our needs without causing negative and burdensome effects in the future.

Preventing corruption requires a systemic movement of culture.

The cure to this epidemic is to develop a revolution of values that becomes practiced to combat greed, showing off, waste and extravagance that results in harming oneself, ones family and the country.

We must start by closing the door on corruption by instilling modesty, gratitude, concern and selflessness.

Only a strong character can become the wall to prevent falling into the trap of corruption.

Through the transformative injection of the values of moderation, everything will be celebrated with gratitude, sincerity and meaning, Insya-Allah the social and and economic justice will continue to grow rapidly in Malaysia.
