MMA welcomes appointment of the new Health DG

SHAH ALAM - The Malaysian Medical Association (MM) has congratulated Datuk Dr Muhammad Radzi Abu Hassan on his appointment as the new Health Director-General.

In a statement, its president Dr Muruga Raj Rajathurai said his vast experience in the healthcare service can bring a huge difference in the national healthcare system.

"His wealth of knowledge and experience from years of service in the public healthcare system and his expertise in the area of clinical research will be an added strength to the health ministry going forward in this crucial period as we strive towards reforms in the national healthcare system.

"As Health director general, he will have a key role in setting the direction of the healthcare system for the future, in line with the aspirations of the Health White Paper," he said.

MMA also took this opportunity to wish the newly-minted Health director general and welcomes him into his new role.

"We are looking forward to work with him and his team," he added.

Dr Muhammad Radzi, 58, was the former deputy director-general of health (research and technical support) at the Ministry of Health (MoH).

He also served as the Medical Department head at Hospital Sultanah Bahiyah in Kedah, Kedah state medical coordination head and Kedah Clinical Research Centre head.

He was also the Gastroenterology and Hepatology Service head and chairman of accreditation for this field from 2013 to 2021.
