SHAH ALAM - Educationists and animal lovers are in luck next month, because Farm In The City will be parading their star animals to Selangor for the Karnival Pendidikan next month.

One of the main attractions will be the presence of cute animals along with educational programmes.

Farm In The City's Senior Executive Sales and Marketing Shamsul Naim Muhamad Jefri said promoting educational programmes and conservation will be their main agenda throughout the Karnival Pendidikan.

"We want to promote our farm, at the same time we would like to provide educational programmes on conservation.

"Our aim is to educate people on animal handling, also teach them on what is good for the animals," he said to Sinar Daily when met at the Farm In The City tour.

Shamsul ensures that students and visitors will enjoy their time at the Karnival since they are bringing more than 15 star animals.

Visitors can interact with animals, take part in educational quizzes and introduction of animals, among many other thrilling activities where visitors will be enjoying with Farm In The City during the carnival.

Together with Shamsul, around six staff and animal handlers will be attending the carnival..

"Animal handlers will also be joining us because we will bring in special animals so we need caretakers to be with us at Karangkraf," he said.

Shamsul also walked down the concept of a mini petting zoo with Sinar Daily adding that their founder Datuk Allan Phoon always wanted a petting zoo with a 'village style'.

Allan wanted visitors to have a great experience eventhough they are residing in the heart of city.

"Its like bringing you back home, or 'balik kampung'," said Shamsul, echoing Allan's vision and mission.

Our petting zoo is mainly to attract more visitors, he said while pointing to animals which were roaming freely and interacting with visitors.

Instead of watching the animals in cages, here visitors can enter the cage and interact with the animals.

"Unlike conventinal zoos, our zoo lets the customers experience animals first-hand, so people can come and touch the animals Visitors can come inside the cage and play with the animals.

"Every animal here roams freely and of course they are happy with the environment and they reproduce," he said.

"Not only in Seri Kembangan, we also have farms in Bentong and it is much more bigger than this," he said.

Bentong Farm, a 27 acre facility has been operating for more than a year and they too have educational programmes.

"Bentong farm shares the same concept with Farm In The City, and the star-animal is Alpaca.

"Bentong farm is more to nature, we have glamping and many more attractions," he said.

The Sinar Bestari Karnival Pendidikan in collaboration with the Selangor State Education Department (JPNS) will be featuring a variety of interesting activities from May 10 to 12 at the Karangkraf headquaters.
