Johor agrees to 80 per cent discount for payment of land premium

PONTIAN - The Johor government has agreed to an 80 per cent discount on payments of land premium involving the relocation of residents of Kampung Seri Tanjung and Kampung Nelayan Benut to Kampung Parit Makuaseng, Benut.

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi who is also Rural and Regional Development Minister said that the premium payment involving RM1.6 million was requested by Pontian MP Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan who is also Deputy Finance Minister I.

"I had the chance to 'whisper' to Johor Menteri Besar from afar about the land premium discount worth of RM1.6 million.

"As a gesture of the Menteri Besar's kindness, the state government will provide an 80 per cent discount," he said.

He said this in a press conference at the Pontian Umno Open House held at Dewan Muafakat Kompleks Pusat Khidmat Ahli Parlimen Pontian in Benut, here, today.

Also present were Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi; Johor Umno chairman Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin and his deputy chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan; Benut assemblyman Datuk Seri Ir. Hasni Mohammad and MCA president Datuk Seri Dr. Wee Ka Siong.

Kampung Parit Makuasang development project involved 170 units of semi-detached houses with basic infrastructure such as roads, water supply, electricity supply and sewage treatment system.

The project that was approved in 2016 aims to provide resettlement for victims of flood and high tides phenomenon, particularly in Kampung Nelayan, Kampung Sri Tanjung and Kampung Sungai Sanglang as well as absolute poverty and poor group around Benut.
