KOTA BHARU - Kelantan Umno is not rejecting the possibility of cutting ties with Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah).

Astro Awani reported that Kelantan Umno Information chief Datuk Zawawi Othman has expressed this following Amanah Communications director Khalid Abdul Samad's recent statement urging the Yang di-Pertuan Agong to reject former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s royal pardon.

He said Kelantan Umno urges Khalid to make a public apology.

"If Khalid does not withdraw his statement that offended Umno members as a whole, Kelantan Umno will consider cutting ties with Amanah in Kelantan," he said in a statement on Saturday.

Khalid was reported on Thursday pleading for the Yang di-Pertuan Agong and the Pardons Board to reject Najib’s application to be pardoned and freed from prison.

He viewed Najib’s pardon as sending a bad message to the public, the country’s justice system, and the whole world about the country's stand on corruption and misuse of power.

Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has also urged all parties, including political parties cooperating with BN, not to make such unwarranted statements regarding Najib’s pardon.
