Cuepacs, MTUC get RM1 mil from govt on Labour Day

PUTRAJAYA - The government has contributed RM1 million to Congress of Union of Employees in the Public and Civil Services (Cuepacs) and the Malaysian Trades Union Congress (MTUC).

The announcement was made by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on Labour Day 2023 celebrations at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC), today.

"Out of respect and recognition for the role of both unions in our country, and to ensure better management, I will add RM1 million to MTUC and Cuepacs," he said.

Also present were Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, Human Resources Minister V Sivakumar, Cuepacs President Datuk Adnan Mat, MTUC President Mohd Effendy Abdul Ghani, among others.

Anwar urged both the workers unions to play their role effectively in taking care of their members.

“(That is why the donations are given because) I want to see the efficiency of both unions (in defending the fate of workers),” he said.
