KUALA LUMPUR - Opposition leaders must stop attacking Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and the Unity Government and work towards establishing good relations with the Federal Government to allow the federal administration to function properly.

Director-general of the Community Communication Department (J-KOM) Datuk Mohammad Agus Yusoff said they can also negotiate with the federal government if they want an equal allocation to be provided to all Members of Parliament regardless of party.

"Anwar has repeatedly expressed his willingness to do so, the opposition leaders only need to come forward to negotiate.

"That’s what Anwar did when he was the opposition leader. He came to negotiate with the then prime minister (Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob), resulting in the signing of the MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) on Political Stability and Transformation between the federal government and Pakatan Harapan (PH) on Sept 13, 2021,” he said in a post on Facebook today.

He added that Anwar’s actions at the time exemplified a constructive opposition, with a good agenda for administrative transformation, Parliamentary reforms, judicial independence and implementation of the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63).

Mohammad Agus said Anwar, who is also the Finance Minister, is also working hard to speed up the implementation of the reform agenda as promised.

"Be patient. Anwar and the Unity Government have only been in power for five months. Measure the success of Anwar and the Unity Government with your heart,” he said.

Mohammad Agus said Anwar is also committed to good governance, combating corruption and abuse of power, (refraining from) selective prosecution and protecting the welfare of the poor.
