KOTA TINGGI - Two sisters aged 10 and 13 drowned in the waters at the Tanjung Buloh beach in Tanjung Sedeli today.

Penawar Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) operation commander Assistant Superintendent Mohd Khairul Sufian Dahari said a distress was received around 3.39pm.

Nine firefighters from the Penawar BBP with a Fire Rescue Tender (FRT) and Hilux were dispatched to the scene.

"Upon arrival, the Operation Rescue Team (PKO) found four victims, all from the same family, had drowned at the location.

"Two victims were rescued by the public while another two had drowned and were brought on land before the PKO arrived at the location.

"The two victims were later confirmed dead," he said.

The two victims who had died were identified as Siti Nursalina Johari, 10, and her sister Siti Rabiah Johari, 13, while the injured victims were Saleha Haron, 27, and Mersidita Yunos, 46, who was the mother of both victims.

The siblings' remains were handed over to the police for further action.
