GOMBAK - Perikatan Nasional (PN) denies signing any sworn declaration (SD) to topple the unity government.

Commenting on the matter PN deputy chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu denied that any such thing had occurred.

“PN did not sign the SD, we have only 74 seats and we 'istiqamah' ( being steadfast). We are aware of the need to carry out our responsibilities as a strong opposition and it will continue,” he said at the Hari Raya open house event organised by Gombak Assemblyman Muhammad Hilman Idham.

Also present were Selangor PN chairman Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali and former Selangor BN chairman Tan Sri Noh Omar.

The Bersatu deputy said PN was currently focused on preparations for state elections in the six states expected to be held in June.

“PN is ocused towards maintaining the government in Terengganu, Kelantan and Kedah as well as finding ways to take over Penang, Selangor and Negeri Sembilan.

“In this spirit of Syawal we shouldn’t think about such matters (taking over the government), let’s focus our service towards the people and strengthen our relationship. That must be done,” he said when commenting on the rumours of PN having 126 MP's support to gain power as the federal government.

Meanwhile, Azmin when asked about such matters said the constitution allowed for the change in government.

" A change in government is not something out of the ordinary or shouldn't be done because the constitution allows for a government to be shuffled if it fails to fulfill the people's aspirations.

“These are the voices of the people currently, the government formed after the general election (GE) could not solve the economic, cost of living and many more issues that has not been acted upon.

“As long as it is bound by the constitutional provisions it can be done,” he said.
