Older sister dies, younger brother seriously injured in bike crash

BENTONG - A woman was killed while her younger brother was seriously injured while riding a motorcycle at Kilometer 53.7 of the Kuala Lumpur-Karak Highway here on Sunday.

In the 5.30pm accident, motorcyclist Farah Amira Samsuri, 22, died at the scene due to severe head injuries while her 15-year-old younger brother was taken to Hospital Bentong for treatment.

Bentong district police chief Superintendent Zaiham Mohd Kahar said the siblings were traveling from Kuala Lumpur towards Raub.

As a result of the investigation and observation of the damages, it was believed that the motocyclist had lost control when going around a bend, causing the motorcycle to skid and crash into the road barrier.

"The motorcycle skidded and crashed into a road barrier on the left side of the road.

"The passenger who was seriously injured was taken to Hospital Bentong for treatment," he said in a statement yesterday.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act (APJ) 1987.

Zaiham further requested the public who witnessed the accident to cooperate and come forward to help in the investigation.
