KOTA BHARU - Teachers at child care centres (Taska) are agents who can help identify autism in children.

State Local Government, Housing, and Health Exco Datuk Dr Izani Hussin said the teachers involved can inform the parents of changes in their child's behaviour.

"For that purpose, having knowledge about autism is crucial for these teachers. It's a positive thing," he said.

He said this after officiating the Kelantan World Autism Celebration Ceremony 2023, near here, today.

He said the Kelantan government is prepared to work together with the state health department (JKN) to raise awareness about autism.

He said the state government currently has no experts or personnel in this field.

"This collaboration will allow us to educate the parents about autism. At the same time, these children's behaviour can be analysed to help show their potential and talent.

"We encourage parents to send their children to a special autism centre that provides exposure to autism to take care of these special children," he said.

He also said that the public's awareness of autism has increased with the increase in the number of cases every year.
